Bobby Bourn Memorial Players Championship
THE draw for Saturday's Bobby Bourn Memorial Players Championship, which will be played in the Olympia Exhibition Hall at the Winter Gardens, Blackpool.
The tournament is named in memory of late PDC official and players' marshall Bobby Bourn, and has been won by Phil Taylor in each year since its inception in 2003.
Taylor is among 164 competitors in the £20,000 tournament, with the winner taking home £5,000.
All 32 competing players in the Stan James World Matchplay will use the Players Championship event as a warm-up for their participation in that event.
Mark Dudbridge and World Matchplay debutant Mark Frost will clash in round one of the Bobby Bourn Memorial, while Taylor and Steve Beaton could pre-empt their first round meeting on Monday if they clash on board one.
"It's very important to perform well anyway ahead of the World Matchplay but being in memory of Bobby makes it extra special," said Taylor. "Hopefully I can keep my winning run going!"
Adrian Lewis, the 2007 Bobby Bourn Memorial runner-up, opens against Danny King, while his World Matchplay first round opponent Kevin McDine faces Roland Scholten to start his challenge on Saturday.
Raymond van Barneveld, the number two seed, could meet fellow Dutchman Jelle Klaasen in round two in a repeat of their 2006 Lakeside Championship final.
The tournament begins at 11am, and results and updates will be posted on PlanetDarts throughout the event. The format is the best of five sets, best of three legs per set throughout.
There is no access for the general public to this event.
